Chemical companies sell units in divestitures

In a series of chemical-company deals, Dow Chemical is selling its polypropylene catalyst division to W.R. Grace, Chemtura is set to sell its line of consumer products to KIK Custom Products and Clariant will sell its detergents and intermediates business to International Chemical Investors Group. While the beginning of the year was slow, transactions between chemical companies are picking up, said Christopher D. Cerimele of investment banking firm Grace Matthews.
