China urban housing prices extend upward march

New-home prices climbed an average of 9.1% year-on-year as measured last month across 70 major cities in China, according to a Reuters calculation based on official numbers. Beijing and Shanghai led the way with gains of a little more than 20%. Prices were also up on a month-to-month basis in 65 of the cities.
