Even in a job market with plenty of people looking for work, small businesses often have a tough time finding the right kind of talent because larger competitors might be able to offer more generous compensation packages, Armina Ligaya writes. In response, smaller enterprises should play up their own advantages, which can include greater opportunity for advancement and the chance to assume more responsibilities from the start. Employees "might make less money, but there's potentially more upside," said Anatoliy Melnichuk, co-founder of Buytopia.
