N.Y. subway stops to boast pop-up retail shops

Uniqlo is the first retailer to take advantage of a new short-term lease program from New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority designed to give merchants a presence at underground subway stops and provide lease revenue until long-term tenants are signed. The fashion retailer's pop-up launched Tuesday at the Union Square station. The MTA says the pop-ups will largely be display areas designed to send shoppers to larger stores or online to make purchases.
