Polio cases on rise in Syria

Syria is experiencing a rise in cases of polio, and the ongoing unrest in the region could harm efforts to stem the outbreak. The World Health Organization is planning a massive vaccination drive within weeks. Researchers suggest the outbreak originated in northwest Pakistan, where local leaders have banned polio vaccination.
