Employees at AppNexus are encouraged to send questions to a dedicated "dumb questions" e-mail account, which forwards their query companywide. Bringing apparently dumb questions into the open is a good way to address concerns and to figure out who is curious and engaged, CEO Brian O'Kelley says. "I like that it's not anonymous, because it helps me get to know who's really smart," he says.
