Researchers study links between celiac disease, fibromyalgia

Data from Italy shows celiac disease patients had a higher risk of developing fibromyalgia, but fibromyalgia patients had the same rates of celiac disease as the general population. Trial participants with fibromyalgia reported little or no benefit from adopting a gluten-free diet, but 14.9% of celiac disease patients reported chronic pain with more than 11% meeting criteria for a diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
