School districts mull approaches to federal health care law

School districts traditionally have employed support-staff members, such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers and instructional aides, many of whom work without health insurance. Under the federal Affordable Care Act, districts are faced with paying for health insurance for employees working at least 30 hours a week or cutting back on their hours and, therefore, services available to schools and students.
