The Federal Communications Commission has postponed its auction of 10 MHz of H Block wireless spectrum until Jan. 22, pushing it back by eight days following the 16-day government shutdown. The agency said staffers and potential bidders needed more time to prepare for the auction. The stalemate also delayed the FCC's ability to approve AT&T's purchase of Leap Wireless and Verizon Communications' wireless buy-out of Vodafone. It also set back the agency's rule-making proceedings on device interoperability in the lower 700 MHz band.
