Clarksville, Tenn., hospice physician Nikkalynn DeLaurentis says her job is not sad, as many people believe, but is "rewarding and fulfilling." She and Dr. Jennifer Ellis, both palliative and hospice specialists, say even though they graduated from medical school 13 years apart neither received training in end-of-life issues. "I could see that the patient and family were facing the unknown, and it was frightening. I wanted to know how I could help," Ellis said.
