Damage from Hawaii quake called extensive, but could have been worse

The 6.7 magnitude quake that rocked Hawaii Oct. 15 caused extensive damage to roads, lava rock walls, a key port, a hospital, some resorts and several other structures. Kawaihae Harbor, one of the island's two deepwater commercial ports, suffered damage and is closed indefinitely while engineers further assess the damage.
