Pundit agrees to settle NCLB promotion probe

Conservative radio commentator Armstrong Williams agreed Friday to pay $34,000 to settle a civil investigation stemming from William's 2003 deal with the U.S. Education Department to produce ads promoting NCLB, a contract the Government Accountability Office later found to violate rules barring "covert propaganda." Williams said he did nothing illegal.
