Study: Obesity costs weigh heavily on U.S.

The U.S. pays some $90.7 billion a year in obesity-related health care costs, and with 66% of the population classified as obese, the country has the highest rate of obesity of all developed nations, a new study says. Researchers with the University of Pennsylvania found costs linked to obesity make up 5.04% of U.S. health care costs.
