Analysis: Rumors of newspapers' demise exaggerated

Although the newspaper business must adapt to challenges from both new and old platforms, Richard Siklos, Fortune editor at large, believes it would be a mistake to give up on an industry in which, according to one analysis, almost one out of every four ad dollars in the U.S. is spent. "Call me ink-stained and old-fashioned, it seems a bit premature to put a $60-billion industry on the endangered species list," he writes.
