Motel 6 to retrofit California rooms with energy-saving sensors

Motel 6 is partnering with Honeywell and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in an energy-saving effort that is expected to bring annual savings of $140 per room. Under the $4.7 million contract with PG&E, Honeywell will install Telkonet SmartEnergy sensors in 7,530 rooms. The sensors reduce energy consumption by shutting off air conditioning and heating elements when guests are not in the room.
