Column: Challenge program encourages regenerative design

The developers of the Living Building Challenge say the program goes a step beyond the requirements of LEED certification as part of the goal of encouraging regenerative design, writes Tom McKeag. The program requires that buildings use zero-net energy and water to qualify. Buildings must also meet qualifications included in "beauty and spirit categories." Developers of the program note that building codes and high up-front costs are some of the challenges it currently faces.
