Cataract surgery has no impact on IOP in diabetes patients

The use of ultrasound-induced cataract emulsification technique of phacoemulsification did not affect intraocular pressure in diabetes patients, according to a study presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting. Experts said more research is needed but the findings suggest that cataract surgery doesn't help lower IOP in diabetes patients, which could lead to long-term problems.
