District's blended learning offers flexibility for career training

The Grand Rapids, Mich., school district is combining online, self-paced learning opportunities with more structured traditional classroom lessons, so students in these blended-learning environments can have more opportunities to step out of the classroom and into an internship or part-time job related to their desired career goals. The district created school-based innovation centers to help students academically and to prepare them for careers.
