AAR: Rail industry works closely with FRA on safety efforts

The Association of American Railroads recently outlined the industry's various hazardous-materials safety programs to the Federal Railroad Administration. These efforts are made whether in compliance with federal rules or based on the railroads' safety goals, AAR said. "Freight railroads are always looking for ways to make this nation's rail network safer for our communities, our employees and our environment," said AAR President and CEO Edward Hamberger.
