Cable industry must take risks to advance technology, panel says

The cable industry, in order to advance its technology, must empower its workers to take risks, according to general-session panelists at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo. Workers at Arris' Motorola Home unit, for example, were encouraged by former owner Google to focus on innovations without fear of failure. "What was really fascinating to me was for every 10 projects they had that failed they would have one that would succeed," Marwan Fawaz of Motorola Home said. "I learned so much about learning from failures instead of focusing on success. They grew up in that mentality."
