EU lawmakers oppose Draghi's stance on bank bondholders

Two lawmakers disagree with European Central Bank President Mario Draghi's position that the EU should be lenient toward bondholders of banks that receive public aid. "It would to my mind be a mistake to show weakness of resolve at the first test of bail-in," according to an e-mail from Sharon Bowles, chairwoman of the European Parliament Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. "That is not what we expected from the ECB." Committee member Sven Giegold has echoed Bowles' comments.
