Exchanging a VA for a newer one could be a good move

Changes in interest rates and other financial factors may make trading in a variable annuity for a new annuity an attractive alternative for investors. In some cases, it would be a wise move for a VA holder to make a 1035 exchange into a different annuity, says Jerome Golden, president of Golden Retirement Advisors. He envisions a strategy that gradually moves a client's assets out of the variable annuity and into several immediate annuities or fixed payment annuities.
