Mich. court: Performance bond's language didn't extend surety's liability

The Michigan Court of Appeals has upheld a lower-court ruling that a performance bond covering an uncompleted sewer construction project is not worth more than its stated value, based on the language in the bond. The ruling stated that the surety has no liability that is specified beyond the performance bond's face value. Livingston County filed a lawsuit over the bond after it was sued by the project's contractor in 2008.
