Steps for switching from lawn mower to snow blower

Switching from a lawn mower to a snow blower requires both preparation and winterization, according to Ted Eastman Sr., owner of Ted's Home and Lawn Equipment in Michigan. He recommends adding a fuel stabilizer before storing a mower, removing batteries from riding mowers to prevent them from freezing and running mowers once a month for about five minutes, even during the winter months. For snow blowers, the augers and runners need to be properly adjusted, the cutter bar should be checked out and the machines need fresh oil and gasoline mixed with a stabilizer, he said.
