Student project holds promise of affordable, high-capacity batteries

Microspray equipment with a nozzle the width of a hair covers microbatteries and other components with protective coatings and could significantly boost battery life for applications ranging from gadgets to cars, writes Richard Burnett. The technology is being developed by engineer Brandon Lojewski and his company, Mesdi Systems Inc. The goal is to develop a cost-effective high-capacity solid-state battery.
