Study on diabetes and vitamin D receives NIH funding

The NIH will provide millions in funding for a study to determine whether vitamin D supplementation may help prevent type 2 diabetes. The study will involve 2,500 participants who have prediabetes. Half will be given 4,000 international units of vitamin D daily, while the rest will be placed on placebo treatment.
