Glanbia announces plans for organic cheese production

Glanbia Foods predicts 20% yearly growth in the organic cheese market, which spurred the company's announcement Monday that it will begin producing organic cheeses to meet increasing consumer demand. Glanbia expects to produce between 8 million and 10 million pounds of organic cheddar, colby and monterey jack cheeses throughout the next year. "Organic cheese production is usually isolated to smaller businesses, so we think that our size can bring resources such as quality control and assurance to the table, which is something that consumers are wanting more of," said Jeff Williams, CEO of Glanbia Foods.
