Court ruling may cost Florida workers' comp

Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty said he is reviewing how Thursday's state supreme court ruling, which removed a cap on attorney fees for injured workers, will affect workers' compensation rates. In the case of an injured nurse who won her claim for back pay, her attorney received $8 an hour because of a 2003 law that mandated caps to hold down workers' compensation costs, while the opposition counsel received $150 an hour.
