Duke scales back solar rooftop program amid criticism

Duke Energy cut in half its $100 million distributed solar rooftop program after facing criticism from other companies. Vote Solar Initiative and Wal-Mart criticized Duke during the permitting process over monopolistic practices. Duke will now spend $50 million to install 10 megawatts of solar panels in North Carolina. The company said customers remain interested in the program, and dozens of solar installers want to participate.
