IBTS lauded for decision to halt IT project

Ireland's Public Accounts Committee commended the Irish Blood Transfusion Service for its decision to stop a project meant to replace its information technology system. The eProgresa IT project was supposed to be used for the collection and tracking of 150,000 annual blood donations for hospital supply but had to be stopped due to the presence of 100-plus computer "bugs," or technological issues. The blood service said it had stabilized its current and older Progresa IT system.
