School nurses can help with diabetes management

In a pilot program, school nurses were able to help older children and teens with Type 1 diabetes better manage their blood sugar during the school day. The nurses supervised blood-sugar monitoring, adjusted insulin doses as needed and gave insulin injections during lunch.
