Ga. district pays out federal money to full-time school employees

Georgia's DeKalb County school district is distributing $14.6 million in federal education-jobs funding to all of its full-time employees, who will choose from a retirement contribution or lump-sum payment. The district, which also saw a less-than-anticipated decline in tax dollars, will also cancel furlough days that were planned for the 2010-11 school year.
