LCRA uses predictive maintenance to keep plant pumping

LCRA's Garwood River Plant in Texas has to close down its pumps each winter -- so predictive maintenance is vital to ensure that the plant's machinery starts up smoothly when spring rolls around. Crews use heat-sensing cameras and vibration detectors to "see" through solid steel and spot small defects that could cause big problems further down the line. "We try to find them early through vibration analysis," says one crew member. "Providing uninterrupted service to our customers is what we try to do."
