Mass. policy asks schools to take a hard line on cyberspace connections

The Massachusetts Association of School Committees is asking districts to adopt a policy that would ban teachers from "friending" students on Facebook. The policy would also ban teachers from giving cell-phone numbers to students. Some union officials and teachers, however, are critical of the policy and say it goes too far. In some cases of inappropriate use, the guidelines call for termination.
