U.S. looking to adopt drilling-safety practices used in U.K.

The Obama administration is still working to adopt the U.K.'s offshore-drilling safety policies now that its moratorium on deepwater activities has been lifted. The British system holds oil and natural gas companies responsible for the legal and financial burdens from oil spills. "You as the operator have to make sure you catch everything" under such an approach, said John Crum, co-chief operating officer and president of Apache's North American unit.
