Study links lack of sleep to obesity in male teens

Male and female teens who sleep for less than seven hours a night had an average BMI that was 3.8% and 4.7% higher, respectively, compared with those who had more sleep, experts reported at the American College of Chest Physicians meeting. Researchers found that weekday sleep duration was associated with obesity in teen males, with the fewest sleep hours linked to the highest BMI, but not in females.
