AT&T beats Q3 earnings forecasts, boasts industry-leading tablet gains

AT&T reported third quarter earnings of $0.66 a share, beating analysts' estimates thanks to greater-than-expected sales of wireless data plans. AT&T added 363,000 contract LTE subscribers during the quarter, more than double the number added during the same period last year and 20,000 more than expected, figures that Wells Fargo analyst Jennifer Fritzsche called "impressive." The company also reported record smartphone sales for the quarter, moving more than 6.7 million of the devices and increased postpaid tablet subscriptions by 388,000, a larger gain than any of its rivals.
