The Justice Department reportedly is examining nine banks in connection with the efforts that led to a $13 billion settlement with JPMorgan Chase, according to people familiar with the matter. The investigation is related to sellers of residential mortgage-backed securities and involves potential civil charges, not criminal ones, sources said.
