East Coast storm-protection projects to get $162M in federal funds

The federal government will provide $162 million toward 45 projects to reduce the impact of storms along the Atlantic coast, said Interior Secretary Sally Jewell. The projects include the restoration of shorelines, wetlands and marshes. "What we witnessed during Hurricane Sandy was that our public lands and other natural areas are often the best defense against Mother Nature," Jewell said in a statement.
