Late holiday airfare bargains on the decline

There may no longer be an abundance of air-travel deals for travelers who hold off buying tickets until late in the holidays. Data from the Airlines Reporting Corp. shows that average ticket prices for flights to the U.S. and the Caribbean during Thanksgiving week have risen 9.4% compared with last year, while airfares for Christmas-week flights were up 7.3%. However, U.S. destinations such as Los Angeles, Houston, Minneapolis and Seattle still offer cheaper ticket prices for the holidays, according to Travelocity.
