N.Y. mayor looks to ban food waste

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is declaring war on food waste, with a bill expected to be introduced that would ban large organizations from disposing leftover food in landfills. That would require hospitals, hotels and other large producers to recycle or compost waste, reducing landfill methane emissions and saving taxpayers about $100 million a year.
