Hawker Beechcraft lays off 350 workers, plans more layoffs soon

Citing a depressed business climate, Hawker Beechcraft gave 60-day notices to 350 salaried workers this past Friday and alerted its machinists union that 800 more jobs will be cut in the near future. "These decisions and actions are intended to sustain and improve the company's financial strength and improve competitive capability during a very difficult time for the business aviation industry," CEO Bill Boisture said in a letter to the company's 6,000 employees.
