Insurers face choice between market, government intervention

While the economy remains tepid, insurers shouldn't lose hope in the nation's ability to generate prosperity through the free market, PCI President David Sampson said at the organization's annual meeting. Sampson told attendees that the nation faces a choice between embracing free market ideals and creating more government intervention. "Government should create the conditions for civil society to flourish and the private sector to innovate. ... But government cannot create prosperity. It can only redistribute wealth," he noted.
