Technology protects South African rhinos from poachers

Veterinarians at North West Park in South Africa implanted Global Positioning System devices on five rhinos, as part of an effort to test the technology's effectiveness in protecting the animals from poachers. The system allows various alarms to be set, alerting park officials to any sudden movements, a lack of movement or if a rhino is outside the game reserve.
