HARP plan could spur consumer spending, Stumpf says:

John Stumpf, chief executive officer at Wells Fargo, sounded an optimistic note about the government's plan to alter the Home Affordable Refinance Program. "This could be really helpful," Mr. Stumpf said. It could put "more money in people's pockets. They'll go out and spend, and get this economy going again." Meanwhile, Mr. Stumpf also defended Wells Fargo's deposit growth.
