MoDOT tests smog-eating concrete on portion of Route 141

A two-lift paving process -- and smog-eating concrete -- will be used by the Missouri Department of Transportation on a portion of Route 141. A thick layer of regular concrete will be placed first, followed by a thinner layer of the more expensive concrete that soaks up smog and, aided by sunlight, breaks it down and releases it into the air as nitrogen and carbon dioxide.
