Former Gray chief looks to create TV-station portfolio

Bob Prather, ex-president and chief operating officer of Gray Television, considers his $16 million acquisition of WKTV in Utica, N.Y., as the cornerstone of a new station group. Prather is looking to make deals for Big Four broadcast affiliates that are ranked first or second in small and medium markets. "I will try to buy in markets I like when they are available. I'm a big believer in striking when the iron is hot," Prather said.
