Ill. may pay more for airport property because of indecision

Illinois may spend $37 million for property it needs for a new airport, even though the property was valued at $1.5 million less than 10 years ago. While the state was slow to move on its plans, local solid-waste magnate and amateur aviator Jim Bult constructed a 5,000-foot runway, a hangar for 100 airplanes and a lodge for visiting pilots. The property is located at Sanger Field in Will Township, south of Chicago.
