Mich. lawmakers vote to reinstate funds for common core

Lawmakers in the Michigan Senate voted Thursday to reinstate funding for the Common Core State Standards. The measure, which still requires approval from the House, includes a provision that would allow school districts to establish their own standards if they meet certain requirements. After the Senate vote, schools Superintendent Mike Flanagan directed the Department of Education to reinstate the standards.
