Momentum grows in Washington for patent reform

The White House offered support for legislation introduced Thursday aimed at limiting the ability of companies holding patents from suing for the purpose of "litigation extortion." Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, defended his proposal from critics both who favor and oppose patent reform efforts. "Abusive patent litigation is a drag on our economy. Everyone from independent inventors, to start-ups, to mid- and large-sized businesses face this constant threat," Goodlatte said.
